This second set of fire demons presents us with two more individuals. The physique is much like the first set, although here we have another arrangement of the horns, which is perhaps something of an identifying feature of particular demons. Like the first pair, these two look cross, with open mouths revealing more fangs than is healthy thanks to a lower jaw that remarkably seems to pivot through ninety degrees. Again we have the nice but rather modest-sized wings for a creature of this mass, and this time both are holding flaming swords, apparently a favourite weapon of theirs. The sculpting is lovely, but there is a fair amount of flash, and call us old-fashioned, but we thought these would have been better done in the same red plastic as the first set - green just doesn't have quite the same fiery impact for us. As with set 1 the wings are separate, and again we struggled to fit wing pegs into holes on the back - some trimming was required to make the peg go all the way. One possible use for these is as balrogs, as described in the Lord of the Rings and other books by Tolkien. You don't get many of these large beasts in a box, and an army of them would take up a lot of space, but we really enjoyed these fun models, almost enough to spark an interest in fantasy figures generally - but not quite!
