To accompany their set of French lancers Franznap have produced this command set, which includes an officer, a standard bearer and a trumpeter. All the men are correctly uniformed, and all look good. As can be seen the third figure has a choice of arms, since the eagle held by one arm would have been a rare sight, so an arm holding a sabre is also provided. Should the sabre be used then the man would ride the horse with the optional sheepskin saddle cover, otherwise as an eagle-bearer he would have the alternative shabraque. The horses themselves are well posed and properly equipped, and all are in relatively static poses.
As with the ordinary troopers, the sculpting is superb and these are lively little figures. The eagle pole is slender and everything is perfectly proportioned. A fitting companion to the trooper set, this is a highly attractive collection of figures.
