Louis Nicholas Davout (1770-1823) was created a Marshal of France in 1804, and was one of the most able of those that held that exulted position. Here we find him mounted on his horse and wearing full dress under a coat. Given the size of this figure it is remarkable to report that it really does look like him, bespectacled and holding his hat. The sculpting is outstanding, with every detail of his glorious uniform done in perfect detail and entirely accurately. His horse too is correctly done, making the whole model quite beautiful. One for the connoisseur perhaps but this limited edition figure is well worth seeking out.
