Mounted archery has a long and illustrious history in Japan, and samurai were expected to be proficient with the bow on horseback as well as on foot. This particular addition to the Art of Tactic game system gives us two such mounted samurai, and very fine models they are too. Although it is not easy to see from our photos, the first figure is aiming behind while the second aims further forward; these poses are clearer in our image of the complete game piece. Both are very nice poses that look both natural and active. Both horses are moving rapidly forward and both are well done, undoubtedly helped by their being made up of two separate halves. The costume of the men looks fine, and the saddles and decoration on the horses is good too.
The sculpting and detail are first rate, and while there is some assembly required, this is easy and a good fit without need for gluing. There is no flash, and the figures come with the usual panoply of extra game items all these sets include, including the choice of red and yellow sashimono. Just another great little pair of fine quality models from Zvezda.
