The siege of Barcelona by the Bourbons in 1714 involved many civilians manning the defences, which is probably where the inspiration for this set came from.
Many of the figures in this set have previously been released in the set of Siege of Barcelona Catalans, sometimes with slight differences such as a new head or repositioned arms. The two men grappling are new, and moulded as one piece as shown. Although it is remarkable what has been achieved with a flexible mould, the quality of the anatomy of these figures is not good. The woman seems to hold a flaming torch, perhaps in lieu of any better weapon. The large diorama piece (238mm by 105mm and 75mm tall), which is rather larger than the above picture suggests,is rather more impressive and makes quite a nice backdrop for some urban fighting. It comes in several parts that fit quite well and is made of quite a soft plastic-type of substance which allows the whole thing to bend somewhat yet seems robust enough to actually be quite useful.
