This is another of Preiser’s mini sets, with just four figures on offer. The title of this set can’t be described as snappy but it does perfectly describe the contents. The general could be any officer, and displays an Iron Cross award at his throat. The runner carries a dispatch case and seems to have a pair of goggles on his helmet, so presumably has a motorcycle somewhere nearby. The last two figures, the radio operators, are sitting using their equipment and providing the general with the other main means of communicating with his men.
Everyone is suitable costumed here, although no one is armed. All the poses make perfect sense when considered as shown on the box cover, which is to say within and surrounding a SdKfz 251/3, which was a common command vehicle equipped with radios. The small size of these figures (they are advertised as 1/87 scale after all) may cause problems for those with large 1/72 scale armies, but they do at least fit all the more easily into a 1/72 vehicle even if the scale is not quite right. We thought all the poses were great, and clearly Preiser think about the poses first, and only then about how to make the model, as three of these figures have several parts to assemble (see picture of sprue). Nevertheless the time taken to put these figures together (some even having alternative parts) is well worth it for a small but really nice group of figures.
