This kit appeared in the early 2000s, but it is one of those that is not really an Airfix kit at all. At the time Airfix was part of the Heller group, and this was one of the Heller kits that were repackaged and sold as new in an Airfix box.
These are some of the worst kit figures we have ever seen. The picture tells its own story, showing somewhat grotesque figures with poor definition that no amount of painting will be able to recover. The duplicated pose is manning a machine gun while the second man is at the wheel. Both wear helmets and life-preservers, but other than that it is impossible to comment on the looks and accuracy because there is little to be made out. Despite a shortage of USN figures in the hobby, we would imagine most would only use these figures out of desperation.
This model was available for a few years before Hornby bought Airfix, but was never made up and photographed in any Airfix catalogue. It is not hard to see why.
