British Vosper motor torpedo boats operated from 1940, although this kit reproduces one for the late part of the war. The boat comes with the above four poses, and quite nice figures they are too. The first two are manning the 20mm cannon and machine guns while the third is at the wheel and the fourth is the commander. All wear double-breasted coats, but only the first two have the steel helmet, which is not at all a good model. Why the man at the wheel wears a cap rather than a steel helmet we do not know, and the same could be said of the commander, although it does help us to easily see their different roles.

Apart from the poor helmets the sculpting is pretty good with realistic clothing and faces that are bland but lifelike. Thanks to their position, both the gunner poses have very little in the way of definition on the hands, but on our example there was little flash and while each man has a mould mark around the back this is not too disfiguring. All told then these are quite useful naval figures.

Although the kit has been around since the early 1970s, it has only once had the completed model photographed and shown in the Airfix catalogue, which was as below.
