Airfix Kit Figures - RAF Refuelling Set

Set A302V and A03302

Of the seven figures in this set, the first four may well be familiar, because they are also to be found in the Airfix R.A.F. Personnel figure set, while the three in the second row are new. The first is a generic figure (ours unfortunately has lost a hand) while the second is feeding ammunition, which would seem an odd choice for a set depicting 'refuelling', although rearming is also what the majority of the top row are doing. The last figure is a truncated driver for the Matador (for some reason the Bedford QL does not get a driver) and he is a bit chunkier and clearly not sculpted by the same person as the rest.

All the newcomers are dressed in the same way as the rest, with the RAF version of the standard battledress and the sidecap. Although the driver is slightly different in style his partly obscured position in the cab makes this irrelevant, and the rest are a perfect size and style match. The detail is slightly less sharp than on their cousins in the soft plastic figure set, but they are perfectly serviceable for all that. These do not represent much of an expansion on the full figure set, but they are decent figures and every little helps.

Below are examples of how the completed kit was illustrated in Airfix catalogues.
