Review

This second set of prehistoric hunters is pretty much more of the same, with a variety of figures in varying degrees of clothing apparently wielding clubs, sticks and spears in the eternal search for food. We discuss our lack of expertise in this general area in our notes on the first set, so we won’t repeat them here, but as far as we know everything here is quite realistic, given the very broad and vague nature of the subject. Of particular interest here is the inclusion of two rather different figures, shown in our second row. These two are naked but much more hairy, so presumably are meant to represent either an earlier stage in the evolution on mankind or else perhaps a different human species – we will leave that to someone with a suitable interest in such things to comment. The poses are quite lively, but we felt these were somewhat flatter than those in the first set, although still quite useable. Differences in skull shape also suggest the designer was aiming to depict a wider range of early human species, so comments on proportions etc. are rather pointless. Nevertheless these are well-produced figures which it would seem may satisfy a need with some people for such early prehistoric humans.
