In a range of fantasy figures this is an odd addition, because of course there are millions of nomadic peoples in the world even today, and there were many more throughout history. The term nomad simply means a person that moves regularly rather than living in one place, and is commonly found in areas with very sparse resources, when livestock and people must keep moving to maintain themselves. The appearance of such people will of course vary widely, but these figures have the look of the Middle East about them, which suggests lots of uses for historical scenarios in that region. They have lots of turbans, curved scimitar swords, pointy helmets and loose clothing, often stripped to the waist, all of which suggests the hot environment of that region. All of them carry blades or bows, so seem suitable for a very long period of history, pretty much until the widespread adoption of gunpowder weapons, and the simple round shields add to that impression. Some wear mail or lamellar armour, and one man has a square pectoral plate on his chest, but many are lightly clothed, so something for everyone really. Sculpting is very good, although some have a lot more flash than we would have liked to see. We are told that there are nomads, called Haradrim, in the Tolkien Middle Earth, which perhaps explains the existence of this set, but as real historical figures these remind us of the old Esci set of Muslim Warriors, yet have even more possibilities than that set since there are no guns here. A thoroughly useful collection for all modellers.
